Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, has died.

The Queen was said to have died in Balmoral earlier today aged 96.

Queen Elizabeth II reigned for 70 years before her demise.

The Queen came to the throne in 1952 and witnessed enormous social change.

“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” the official Twitter handle of the Royal Family said.
